[ENG] Veronica is a psychology student. She was surprised by the glass windows in Polish toilet doors and by the timidity of Polish women in changing rooms. Due to having an original Finnish name which is pronounced like a popular Polish call, she is very sensitive about people making jokes of her.

[PL] Studentka psychologii jest zaskoczona nieśmiałością Polek w przebieralniach na basenach. Polaków natomiast uważa za niezbyt przystojnych mężczyzn. Najbardziej zaskoczyły ją u nas szklane drzwi w toaletach

[ENG] Bruno comes from Belgium, but at present he is working in Warsaw. He perceives Poland as a shocking mix of modernity, kitsch and relics of the past. Due to the recent experiences he had in Poland, he considers collecting the entrance fee for coming to the parties organized in his house.

[PL] Bruno pochodzi z Belgii. W Polsce przebywa od 3 miesięcy. Uważa, że Polacy są z siebie dumni i mają dość dobrą reputację w świecie.

[ENG] Lude chose Poland because he has always wanted to explore a culture completely different than the one he was brought up in. He loves to talk with clochards sipping vodka on the benches of Warsaw. His experiences in Poland prove that meeting huge, young, bald Poles may prove unexpectedly funny.

[PL] Lude wybrał Polskę, ponieważ zawsze pragnął poznać kulturę całkowicie odmienną od tej, z której się wywodzi. Uwielbia rozmawiać z warszawskimi kloszardami i pić z nimi wódkę.

[ENG] Nadia was born in Peru, but she moved to Poland when she was 17 years old. In her opinion, Poles need to be more open to foreigners and smile more frequently. She finds Polish men a bit cold-blooded and diffident, and she is sure she knows what women dislike about their appearance.

[PL] Nadia pochodzi z Peru. Jej rodzina od strony matki jest z Polski. Nadia chciałby zostać w Polsce, wybudować dom z ogrodem i wieść spokojne życie.

[ENG] Sachin works as a teacher in Warsaw. In his opinion, walking down the Polish street one usually meets an extraordinarily beautiful woman every two minutes. He is not able to master the Polish language, but to his surprise he once managed to calm down and convert a Polish skinhead.

[PL] Sachin ma 32 lata, mieszka w Warszawie i jest nauczycielem. Był zaskoczony, że Polacy to na ogół pesymiści. Sachin nie wiedział, że Fryderyk Chopin urodził się w Polsce.

[ENG] Paola claims that the stereotypes about Poles in Norway have recently changed for the better. When she compares the Norwegian dates to the Polish customs, she admits that they may prove quite dangerous. The biggest surprise in Poland for her was the sight of the sunrise after she came out of a club.

[PL] Paola przyjechała do Polski, by studiować medycynę. Zanim Polska weszła do Unii Europejskiej, w Norwegii większość ludzi myślała, że polscy mężczyźni dużo piją i znęcają się nad kobietami.

[ENG] Gita is taking part in student exchange program ERASMUS. Before she came to Western Europe, she had thought Poland was a very artistic country with many museums and where everyone is interested in music. Does she like Poland?

[PL] Gita bierze udział w wymianie studenckiej Erasmus. Zanim tu przyjechała, myślała, że Europa Wschodnia to bardzo artystyczne miejsce. Wszyscy interesują się muzyką i jest tu dużo muzeów. Czy polubiła Polskę?

[ENG] The young Ethiopian associates Poland mostly with racism and lazy policemen. He was surprised that in Poland he is constantly asked to take off his shoes before entering somebody's house. He is an absolute record-holder for having learned Polish within the shortest time.

[PL] Młodemu Etiopczykowi Polska kojarzy się z rasizmem i leniwymi policjantami. Był zaskoczony koniecznością zdejmowania butów w domach. Naszego języka nauczył się w rekordowo krótkim czasie.

[ENG] Since Linda is of Polish descent, she has been visiting Poland every year. She is of the opinion that crossing the street in Poland may result in losing one's life. She is delighted by the courtesy of Polish men, however she claims that it is easy to be a gentleman here.

[PL] Linda studiuje zarządzanie na Akademii Leona Koźmińskiego. Jej matka jest z Polski, dlatego Linda często tu przyjeżdżała. Chciała się przekonać, jak to jest mieszkać tu, a nie tylko przyjeżdżać na wakacje

[ENG] It took Gloria a while to remember three important Polish words. What irritates her the most in Poland is the slow customer service. In spite of that, she would like to give a hello kisses to everyone she meets here, yet this manifestation of friendliness is not always understood correctly.

[PL] Przyjaciele powiedzieli Glorii, że w Polsce czeka ją dobra zabawa. Gloria była zaskoczona, że w Polsce ludzie się nie uśmiechają i nie mówią po angielsku

[ENG] Rocco is a retired USA army officer living in Poland and fascinated by the Polish history. In his opinion, Poles lack hope and a bit of pride, but he truly admires the resourcefulness of Polish women. He had difficulty in mastering Polish language, which led to plenty of comical situations.

[PL] Rocco jest emerytowanym oficerem armii Stanów Zjednoczonych. Mieszka z żoną na północy Polski, gdzie prowadzą małe gospodarstwo. Uważa, że Polki to najpiękniejsze kobiety na świecie

[ENG] Lilia comes from Kaliningrad and studies international economics in Warsaw. Lilia likes Polish cuisine, especially soups. She adores Polish nightlife and open air festivals though she misses Russian sauna, which is a great way of spending time with friends.

[PL] Lilia przyjechała do Polski kilka miesięcy temu. Uwielbia nocne życie Warszawy i letnie festiwale muzyczne. Gdyby miała wskazać ulubione polskie danie, bez wahania wybrałaby nasze tradycyjne zupy.

[ENG] Chryscina is a student of cultural studies. She does not like Poles always talking about politics and she is not very fond of Polish cuisine, especially a fruit soup. Since some Belorussian words sound rather obscene for Poles, she enjoys the confusion they evoke when she uses them in public.

[PL] Christina studiuje kulturoznawstwo. Zauważyła, że w Polsce na dworcach kolejowych jest sporo bezdomnych. Nie raz potkała ją zabawna sytuacja z powodu podobieństwa pomiędzy białoruskim i polskim językiem

[ENG] Mariko works in Poland as a Japanese teacher. In her opinion, Poles work much less and are more relaxed when compared to Japanese people. Although she is still surprised about the amount of alcohol Poles can drink, the biggest shock for her in Poland was the way we drink coffee.

[PL] Mariko ma 27 lat i uczy w japońskiej szkole. Była zaskoczona, że ludzie w Polsce tak mało pracują. W Japonii 10 czy 12 godzin pracy, to norma. Zdaniem Mariko Polacy są bardzo gościnnym narodem.

[ENG] Lena is a volunteer from south Germany. She realizes, that both in Poland and in Germany there exist detrimental stereotypes referring to both nations, yet in Poland she appreciates the friendliness, beauty of nature and even the lack of perfection.

[PL] Jest wolontariuszką w Trójmieście. Pochodzi z południa Niemiec. Zdaje sobie sprawę, że w obu krajach powszechne są wzajemne uprzedzenia, jednak w Polsce spotkała się z przyjaznym nastawieniem. Jedynym wyjątkiem są niemiłe panie w kasach PKP.

[ENG] Firdavs is 18 years old. He wanted to study in Europe and eventually chose Poland because of lower studying and living costs. He studies computer science in Warsaw.

[PL] Fridavs ma 18 lat. Bardzo chciał studiować w Europie. Wybrał Polskę z powodu niskich kosztów utrzymania. Uczy się w warszawskiej szkole wyższej Vistula.

[ENG] Mallorie from France is 23 years old and lives in Gdynia. She likes playing with stereotypes about the French cuisine and sexlife. She finds Polish women very beautiful. Mallorie misses French wine and croissants, but loves Polish beer.

[PL] Mallorie ma 23 lata i pochodzi z Francji. Uwielbia bawić się stereotypami na temat rodzimej kuchni i temperamentu seksualnego. Uważa, że Polki są bardzo piękne. Tęskni za francuskim winem i rogalikami, za to uwielbia nasze piwo.

[ENG] It has already been 5 years since Taras moved to Poland. Contrary to general stereotypes, he believes that in Poland the roads are good, the police is nice, the corruption is rare and the traffic rules are always respected. His first time in Warsaw was especially astonishing and pleasant for him.

[PL] Taras przyjechał do Polski na rok, ale jest tu już pięć lat. Uważa, że mamy naprawdę dobre drogi, ale nie przepada za wiecznie spóźnionymi pociągami.

[ENG] Kim had never heard of Poland before she came to study here. She finds Polish men very gentle and attractive, and she loves their tallness. What surprises her the most in Poland are the low prices of alcohol and cigarettes as well as the fact that in the street you are allowed to smoke and eat!

[PL] Przed przyjazdem do Polski Kim nic nie wiedziała o naszym kraju. Chciała odwiedzić jakiś egzotyczny kraj, który nie jest bardzo skomercjalizowany, dlatego wybrała Polskę.

[ENG] Yuan Lin is studying in Warsaw. She does not like seeing drunk people in Polish streets, because she thinks that alcohol destroyed their lives. She considers Poland with its quietness, greenery and fresh air as the ideal place to live, and she admires the openness and sincerity of Poles.

[PL] Lin lubi nasze jedzenie i imprezy. Bardzo chciałaby nauczyć się polskiego, ale uważa ten język za bardzo trudny. Polska to bardzo spokojny i cichy kraj, dlatego Yuan czuje się tu jak u siebie w domu

[ENG] Jessica came to Poland to experience her father's homeland. She finds it a bit frustrating to be a foreigner in here, because at times it is impossible to get any help. She loves local parties, but she finds Polish men spoilt by their mothers and girlfriends.

[PL] Jess wybrała nasz kraj ponieważ mój ojciec pochodził z Polski. Chce nauczyć się języka i zobaczyć jak najwięcej. Była zaskoczona, że autobusy w Polsce są bardzo punktualne

[ENG] Talgat came to Poland for his internship. When he first saw a Polish city, he couldn't help comparing it to New York. He does not agree with the stereotype that Poles always wear cheap leather jackets and are sneaky, but he is disappointed that they drink much less than he expected.

[PL] Talgat jest w Polsce na wymianie studenckiej. Zanim przyjechał do naszego kraju myślał, że Polacy dużo pija i noszą skórzane kurtki.

[ENG] Uri notices plenty of similarities between Poland and Israel. Right after he came to Poland, he invented his own interesting method of learning to speak Polish. He loves Polish cuisine to such an extent that he even named his dog after one of the most popular Polish dishes.

[PL] Uri przyjechał do Polski, by studiować medycynę. Był bardzo zaskoczony, że Polska jest podobna do Izraela w wielu dziedzinach. Bardzo lubi tradycyjną polską kuchnie, np. golonkę, smalec i kaszankę.

[ENG] Omar comes from Jordan, he is 32 and he is a rock and metal guitarist. He has been living in Poland for 10 years and throughout that period he has noticed many changes in polish society like the men's attitude towards fashion.

[PL] Omar jest 32-letnim Jordańczykiem. Na co dzień jest rockowym gitarzystą. W Polsce mieszka już od 10 lat. Przez ten czas miał okazję zaobserwować wiele zmian, takich jak choćby podejście polskich mężczyzn do mody.
